It’s no secret that I LOVE cereal and always have. I will have it for breakfast or dinner, and especially a before bed snack. When I started trying to improve my eating habits, I knew that I needed to revamp my cereal choices too.
I used to love frosted mini wheats and raisin bran, but let’s face it, neither of those two are really that low in sugar. I know that they have a nice dose of fiber, but I wanted to try and eliminate a lot of the added sugar.
Taking a cue from the Engine 2 diet formulator, Rip Esselstyn, I decided to mix a few of the healthier cereals I love most. My “Super Cereal” is a combination of Uncle Sam’s cereal, rolled oats, and Whole Foods’ triple berry crunch (like Kashi Go Lean with berries).
I mixed it all together and have it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and banana. It hits the spot every time! Uncle Sam’s makes a great addition to the Super Cereal because it’s a fiber power house (10 grams per 3/4 cup serving–sugars are less than 1 gram). I also like that Uncle Sam’s, like all of the other Attune cereals, are part of the non-GMO project.
Attune Foods was kind enough to send us a box of each of the following cereals: Uncle Sam’s, the Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice (picture Rice Krispies, but with brown rice), and Erewhon Corn Flakes. They were all a hit in the Morrison household. For those of you that are gluten-free, they have six different cereals to choose from!
As you are reading this, I am probably finishing up – you guessed it—a bowl of cereal!
Attune Foods provided 30 Something Mother Runner with three boxes of cereal for my consideration. I did not receive any payment for writing this review, and all writing and opinions reflected in this review are my own.
I am an Attune Foods B.A. but have also eaten Uncle Sams in this house since the late 90s 🙂
LONG BEFORE I had any idea what a BA was.
we love us some attune!
Ahh a woman after my own heart. Your cereal tastes are mine- and a major reason why it’s my favorite meal of the day. I always get exactly what I want and it sustains me!
I have heard so much about Attune foods and Uncle Sam Cereal – I need to try it for myself!
