I can’t wait to head back to Vermont next week with the family to kick off summer vacation. We love Vermont and go there any chance we can get!
Basin Harbor Club
Our first stop in Vermont will be Vergennes, right on Lake Champlain. We will be staying at the Basin Harbor Club. This family friendly seasonal resort is open from May to October and features a TON of activities to enjoy the outdoors including running (there are over 50 miles of trails!), biking, kids club, golf, hiking, water skiing, tubing, tennis and much more!

Sun & Ski Inn and Suites
After leaving Vergennes, we will make a stop in Burlington and then head to Stowe, where we will spend two more days at the Sun & Ski Inn and Suites. The Sun & Ski Inn and Suites is located on Mountain Road, not far from Mt. Mansfield and all of the outdoor fun that Stowe has to offer.
My husband lived in Stowe for a winter skiing, and I used to love to go up and visit– it’s always been a place in Vermont that we love to visit and look forward to sharing it with the kids. The Sun & Ski Inn and Suites offers a variety of lodging from standard and superior hotel rooms to full-size condos.
You can participate in a number of activities at the resort including using their indoor bowling alley! Whether it’s relaxing in an Adirondack chair or hammock after a full day of outdoor activities or swimming in the glass-enclosed pool, there’s something for everyone in the family!
Activities and Places We Will Be Checking Out!
There is an endless list of fun things to do with your family in Vermont, and we will just be scratching the surface on our visit next week. There are a few things already penciled in on our list, but we will definitely be adding more!
ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain
We’ve been to the ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain once before, but I can’t wait to go back! It was a treasure trove of learning for the boys, full of interactive exhibits about ecology, history and culture. You can find out more about ECHO here (and stay tuned for more info after our visit!).
Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour
The older two boys visited the Ben & Jerry’s factory in Waterbury, Vermont years ago, but I’m quite sure they don’t remember much about it! I can’t wait to take them back and check out the headquarters of one of my favorite ice creams of all times!
During the factory tour, you will learn everything you wanted to know about the history of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, see how it’s made, taste your favorite flavors and purchase Ben & Jerry’s gear. We will be sharing more details and pictures from Ben & Jerry’s during our visit on Instagram and Snapchat (username jshade77).
Outside Fun
In addition to the above activities, we will be spending a TON of time enjoying the outdoors in Vermont including trail running, hiking, mountain biking and visiting some great swimming holes. I love Vermont and can’t wait to get there next week!
What should we add to our must-do list for our trip to Vermont? We will be in the Lake Champlain and Stowe/Waterbury area.
