As a health conscious foodie, I’m always on the lookout for products that can help me give some of my favorite recipes a “makeover.” I love appetizers, and bruschetta is one of my all-time favorites. I recently gave this popular Italian recipe a healthy update by using Wasa Crispbreads. While in Plymouth, I made a trip to the Walmart Supercenter to get the ingredients for the recipe. It’s so simple and takes about 10 minutes (max!) to prepare!

Wasa Crispbreads and the Barilla Family of Products

One thing that can be challenging when you are trying to pay more attention to what you eat is portion size. It’s a challenge I’ve dealt with personally, so every now and then I go back to measuring foods to see what a portion “should” look like. That’s one of the reasons I love the Wasa Crispbreads– each crisp is 45 calories and is a wholesome AND tasty complement to any snack.

Wasa Cripsbread Package

Wasa Crispbreads are 100% whole grain, fat-free and they are the perfect “canvas” for bruschetta! It’s a great alternative to the traditional Italian or French bread. The Wasa Crispbread Bruschetta is also super quick to make; so it’s great when you need to bring a dish to a party but are short on time!

There are a number of other Barilla products like Barilla ProteinPLUS, Barilla Whole Grain Pasta and Barilla White Fiber pasta that provide great nutrition with each portion size. Make sure to check them out the next time you are grocery shopping at Walmart (don’t forget to use the Ibotta offer for Barilla)! You can also get recipe inspiration on their website and Pinterest boards.

If you are gluten-free or have a gluten-free child, Barilla also has a gluten-free pasta, and you will find it on this AWESOME list of 25 pre-packaged foods that contain no nuts, eggs, dairy, or wheat! The winners on this list were chosen by children with food allergies and their families!

Bruschetta with Wasa Crispbread

If all this talk about pasta and crispbreads is making you hungry, check out the delicious bruschetta recipe below. It’s super easy to assemble them. Dice the tomatoes and onion and mince the garlic cloves. Cut the basil in a chiffonade style and mix the ingredients together with the olive in a mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Spoon the mixture onto each crispbread and then drizzle the balsamic glaze over top. Enjoy!
