It’s been a while since I’ve done a training check in, so I thought I would let you guys know a little more about what my running has looked like lately!
Back to Heart Rate Training!
Since the hazy, hot and humid weather is not too far away, I have decided to use the summer to focus on heart rate training and building my aerobic base for the fall racing season.
Paces during the hot summer months are never what they will be in cooler weather, so I figured it might be easier to not sweat the much slower pace averages! I am in week one of this new method, and I’ve actually enjoyed it!
I’ve been keeping my heart rate under 140, by slowing it WAY down and taking walk breaks when needed. It’s been nice to relax and just enjoy the ride– especially now that all the birds are out and about and spring is in full bloom on our local bike path!
New Sneakers for the Family from New Balance
Last week, the boys and I were lucky enough to get some new sneakers from New Balance to celebrate the end of the school year and the start of summer (with lots of running I’m sure!). I received the Vazee Prism (retails around $99), the newest addition to the Vazee line-up. The Vazee Prism is a lightweight shoe that provides a speedier ride without sacrificing support (the medial post provides extra stability).
I have been running in them for the past few weeks, and I think they’re great for running AND wearing around town (because the pink fuchsia color is one of my favorites!). I like running shoes that aren’t too bulky, but still offer some support on the run, so these would be a great shoe for anyone looking for the same combination.
The boys were super excited to find out they got to share some of mom’s running blogger perks! 🙂 All 3 boys do a lot of running in the course of their days, whether it’s in gym or recess or just running around the back yard! They were very excited to find out that they all had matching shoes (the Vazee Rush)– Will’s just had velcro instead of laces (the Vazee Rush Infant/Toddler)! 🙂

It’s crazy how fast it’s starting to look like summer on Cape Cod! It seemed like just the other day I was running alone on the bike path, and now there are flocks of runners, walkers and bikers here to enjoy warmer temperatures and the beach! I’m so glad that pretty soon the boys will be able to be out there with me all day!
