Yesterday I attended the Blogger Preview for the brand new Container Store in Cranston, RI. Wow–it was nirvana for people who like organizing! It also made me realize how horribly unorganized my house is! 😉 I had never been to a Container Store before, and I was very impressed with the selection of items and the store’s philosophy on its employees and giving back to the community.
It’s clear that the Container Store really values its employees. The hourly rate for Container Store employees is double the usual retail rate, and they receive about 236 hours of training (compared to the 7-10 at traditional retail stores). With all of this training, Container Store employees are well-equipped to help you with any organizational challenge. They know their products inside out!
The store also makes an effort to get involved with local charities in their markets. At opening weekend, they donate 10% of their sales to a local charity–in Rhode Island it will be Crossroads. I love that they give back to the local community!
So, let’s talk about all of the cool things you can find at the Container Store. There were see-through storage boxes galore, hangers in every color, the Elfa closet storage system, and every travel storage accessory imaginable. I was so sad we couldn’t shop yesterday, but I am pretty sure I would have gone broke if I did! I will definitely be going back to purchase things for our home!
The more reviews I see the more I want to get in there/need to hide all of my credit cards! What an awesome store- so glad you got to go (and bummed I missed meeting your newest member!!!)
