It seemed like it would never come, but the last day of school has finally arrived in the Morrison household. While my five year-old finished preschool earlier this month, my first grader had to go to school until today due to the extra 5 days added for snow. 🙁
I packed my last school lunch yesterday, since today is a half day – woot woot! No more lunch packing duties until after Labor Day! We are gearing up for a fun-packed summer with a focus on maximizing beach days and not adhering to much of a schedule. I feel like things have been so scheduled out during the school year that I am looking forward to not having much to do…I think it’s a very welcome change.
A few weeks ago, I asked my seven year-old if he wanted to sign up for any sports camps, and he just said to me “No, I really don’t want to do anything except go to the beach and relax.” Well, said son! 🙂 Sounds like a plan I can get on board with. Aside from lots of beach days, we will be taking some day trips to places like Water Country and Six Flags. It’s actually nice to be able to live in a place that many come to visit for summer vacation– we don’t have to go anywhere!
I am sure that the next two months will fly by, but right now, I look forward to savoring each and every day without the morning rush of school days. Then again, ask me next week, and I might say something different! 😉
What are your plans for summer?
