I’m SO EXCITED to announce that Stonyfield recently receive B corp certification. You’re probably asking yourself “What the heck is a B corp, and why does it matter?” Here’s what you need to know:
What is a B Corp™?
I love the analogy that: “B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk.”
Choosing to purchase items from these companies means that you are using your dollars to support a business that is socially and environmentally conscious and believes in transparency and strict accountability standards. In order to get certified, a company must undergo rigorous evaluation and be scored. Stonyfield recently acquired B Corp certification— they scored a 92 on the evaluation and are looking at ways to make that score even higher! 🙂
Now that I am aware of what a B Corp is, I’m excited to start using my dollars to support these businesses that are helping to make our world a healthier, more socially and environmentally conscious place! The more we can support these organizations, the more others will pursue certification as well. Other companies that have achieved this certification include the following (and many more!):
- Seventh Generation
- Method
- Cabot Cheese
- Badger
- Pete & Gerry’s
- Ben & Jerry’s
- Dansko
- Etsy
- Patagonia
- Pukka
- Purely Elizabeth
- King Arthur
- Preserve
Would a B Corp status influence your decision to patronize a business?
