Not sure where the latest round of toddler ‘tude came from, but it arrived in our house a few days ago and hasn’t left yet. I love being a mother to my two boys, but sometimes I feel like I am slave labor. “Get me this!” “I NEEED this!””Can I have a drink, I’m thirsty (for the eleven millionth time before bed—anyone who hasn’t watched and/or read THIS, definitely should!). Just don’t watch it with the kids around!
We had a meltdown of epic proportions in Target yesterday that was in one word “EMBARRASSING.” I know you have all been there—your kid is in the toy aisle and doesn’t get he/she wants, and it all goes downhill from there.

A while ago, I instituted a sort of “allowance” with Matchbox cars or Hot Wheels. At the end of the week, if my older son did a good job listening and helping around the house, he could pick out a car. Let’s just say we are not on the same page when it comes to a budget in the toy car aisle!
When I informed James that we were not purchasing the monster truck, but rather a $1 Hot Wheels, it did NOT go over well. I was that parent dragging her screaming child to the register to purchase our items and get the heck out of there as fast as humanly possible. I actually got a few sympathetic glances and comments from shoppers, which made the situation marginally better.
I am so looking forward to a weekend at a friend’s farmhouse in upstate NY and the help of my husband. My goal is to get the kids as much outside time and exercise as I can. Maybe, just maybe they will even sleep well!
What are your plans for the weekend?
Oh yeah…Target tends to bring out the best in my Em! We’ve resorted to “Ok we can put it on your Santa list” to all her “I wants”. Have fun in NY! It’ll be good to unwind! We are having our last weekend in RI….trying to be all touristy and what-not!
Wow…he threw a fit and had to be drug out of the store and still got any toy at all? Lucky kid. You are definitely more understanding of a toddler’s moods than I. Glad the other shoppers helped cheer you up a bit. 🙂
No, he didn’t get it then. I am saving it for later. I was too mortified to walk back and replace it! 😉
Ive been that Target mom before so I feel your pain!! This weekend we have 16-mi for me and the hubs and that will be followed up by our CSA pick up and a trip to Ikea for a big girl bed for Lil One!!!
My 1st daughter used to start screaming the moment I set foot in Target. Luckily, 2 years later, she loves it as much as her mama! Unfortunately, my wallet suffers lol
