I willingly admit that the idea of running in costume is not very appealing to me. I get hot enough running as is–let alone in costume! I am also afraid of being uncomfortable when running–I don’t like things flapping around or bumping me in awkward places. I have, however, run in a Sparkle Skirt. Sparkle skirts are runner approved in my book. You do need to wear something under them (I wore compression shorts), but they are made specifically for running, so they are ultra-lightweight and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns.
That being said, I did manage to find some costumes that are runner-approved.Kelly (According to Kelly) has put together a list of Halloween costumes for runners, along with instructions on how to make them, for those of us who are creatively challenged. I love that she also wear-tested them to ensure their comfort. Who wants to run a 5K and find that one mile in your costume is giving you a major wedgie?! Have you ever run in costume? If so, what did you wear?
