When I was younger, I was most definitely a book nerd. I read ALL the time. I remember getting in trouble with my mother because I wouldn’t do my chores around the house or other things she asked for, since I was always in the middle of a book. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my sons love books the way I did and still do.
Right now both boys are in the throes of Disney and all of its great characters. They both love Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and C loves Princess Sofia and Tinkerbell. So imagine their joy when we received a giant box of Disney books. The boys could not contain themselves with all of the new reads, complete with read along CDs and mobile apps that accompany the books. J is also into super heroes now, so he was even more thrilled when a package of books came the following week with Spiderman and Marvel character books!
Since it would take me forever to review all of them, I thought I would cover some of their favorites:
Sofia the First: The Enchanted First by Catherine Hapka– This super cute book is all about the royal kingdom’s Enchanted Feast, complete with a special visit from Snow White! The book includes a digital song download.
An Amazing Snowman by Barbara Jean Hicks– This one is my personal favorite! I think Olaf from Frozen is so cute, and he graces the cover of this beautifully illustrated book. The book is all about Olaf’s dreams and his healthy outlook on life!
Doc McStuffins: Leilani’s Luau— I admit it–I really like Doc McStuffins too, so I was excited that our box included one of her books. This book is all about Doc’s luau with her new friend Leilani and it comes complete with 60 stickers.
Big Rig by Jamie Swenson– This is J’s favorite. He has always LOVED trucks, and he couldn’t contain his excitement when this one arrived. It’s about an 18-wheeler, and it sort of reminds you of Cars and Mack the Trailer. There are cute illustrations and it includes some other skills like counting by twos and truck vocabulary. If you have a truck lover, they will enjoy this book!
Surfin’ Turf by Melinda La Rose– We love Jake and the Neverland Pirates in this house, so a Level 1 reader was perfect for J. It’s a cute surfing story with interactive questions on each page.
Marvel Spiderman: Spidey’s New Costume by Thomas Macri– J has been super into Spiderman as of late–like pretending he really is Peter Parker and Spiderman, so this was his fave Marvel book. It’s a Level 3 reader, but he reads it over and over again, and I’m impressed with how much of it he can now read!
I would definitely recommend checking out the Disney Publishing books if you have little Disney fans in your house. It’s always great to get them into reading early, and even better when it has all of their favorite characters!
30 Something Mother Runner received a selection of books from Disney Publishing for the purpose of this review. All opinions are 100% my own (and my sons’!).
