I was never big on protein shakes, but I am coming around to the protein smoothie as an excellent way of getting some extra protein, fruits, and veggies (depending on what you decided to include). I typically just throw the following into my mini blender: a Chobani Greek yogurt, frozen fruit, Neocell protein powder, and occasionally some calcium-fortified orange juice. I have never tried a green smoothie, and I am not really sure what’s in one!
I tried the Neocell after having a bad experience with hemp protein powder. Let’s just say I tried it several times, and it did NOT sit well on my stomach. Another FitFluential ambassador suggested trying out Neocell, since she also had a sensitive stomach and it seemed to work well.
Neocell offered to send me a canister of their protein powder to try out (Collagen Sport – 30g protein per serving); I chose the Belgian chocolate flavor. One thing I liked right off the bat is the flavor, and the second was that I could read every single ingredient on the back! It mixes well into protein shakes/smoothies–no grainy texture that you can sometimes get with protein powders.
I find that I sometimes lack inspiration for new protein shakes to try (like many others I am sure) so I asked my fellow FitFluential ambassadors to help me with some great new protein smoothie recipes to try. Here they are, so you can give them a try too:
- Sam’s Super Smoothie
- Mixed Berry Green Smoothie
- Angie’s Thick and Creamy Blueberry Smoothie
- Apple Pie Protein Shake
- Green Goddess Smoothie
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
- Vega Green Smoothie
- MizFit’s Protein Shakes
Neocell provided 30 Something Mother Runner with a canister of the Collagen Sport free of charge. I did not receive any other type of compensation for mentioning their product- I just like it!
ooooh love all the links as Im always looking for new ideas for me and the MAN 🙂
thanks so much for including me…
Thanks for sharing your awesomeness when it comes to making protein smoothies! 🙂
Thanks for the recommend. Sounds like you and I had the same reaction to the HempPowder. Not a fun time.
I will try this out!
You’re welcome Charlene! Yes, the hemp was definitely no bueno for me, thankfully there are a lot of other choices out there! 🙂
It’s so funny, cuz I never liked chocolate much. But now that I am working out, I love my Vega Chocolate protein powder, my Clif chocolate bars and my Tru Moo Chocolate milk. Too funny. Glad you found something that works with your GI system. Thank you for the link love.
You’re welcome Christine! I REALLY want to try the Vega one too. 🙂
I usually tend ot make the same shakes over and over, too – thanks for these fun new recipes to try!
You’re welcome Meredith! Get creative and mix it up! 😉
I’ll have to go through the recipes, I make mine the same everyday – berries, pineapple, bunch of spinach, protein powder, fibre and a splash of orange juice and then water. I love it, but could always use something new to jazz up the routine!
Great list of protein smoothies! Thanks for sharing mine too and using my picture. That smoothie was so creamy…yum!
It’s been a while since I have had my favorite (a peanut butter/chocolate/banana) smoothie so I might have to make one this week!
