Since I have been running a lot lately, I predict there will be a direct correlation between running and my enjoyment of holiday treats! We always have Thanksgiving with my husband’s side of the family, so we will all be getting together in Winchester, MA.
I am bringing a dessert this year—pumpkin pie cake. Even though it has “cake” in the title, it looks nothing like a cake. I would call it more of a custard dessert (with a kick a$$ topping!). My mother made this recipe a few weeks ago, and it was to die for! Hopefully mine turns out the same way!
This year, I wanted to do something with the boys that they could bring to Thanksgiving dinner—I think it’s never too early to get them started! We will be making sugar cookies shaped like leaves. We are going to frost and decorate them, and then we are going to package them up in some cute boxes I found at Michael’s.
This Thanksgiving is going to be extra special since some Irish cousins will be joining us for Thanksgiving and for a vacation on the Cape. I am sure we will have a blast, and the boys are so excited to see family old and new. Now I just have to start packing and everything else!
There will definitely be some running going on too—some long and short runs on the Cape to work off all the turkey! I am hoping that I can get Clarke to run once or twice with me. I WILL turn him into a runner!
