Last night I went for my first run in about six months! I am four weeks postpartum and was going to hold out for six weeks, but my body felt good and pretty back to normal, so I went for it! As predicted, it was not easy, but I didn’t feel too bad. I held the run to two miles and was able to run the whole way, so I consider that a win! 😉
It’s amazing how much your fitness decreases when you take that much time off. Postpartum running paces that would have seemed really easy a year ago, felt like a much tougher effort. I know it will come back though, so I’m not worried. It just felt great to be outside and getting my sweat on! No more feeling jealous of runners as I drive or walk by.
The Hokas felt good–I can’t wait to work them up to longer runs to see what my legs will feel like. I also got to wear my new Skirt Sports Kelly C/D Support Tank. It was super comfortable and seemed to keep everything in its place! 😉 I actually decided to order one of the Skirt Sports bras yesterday, since I really like the tank!
On another note, would any of my local readers be interested in a group run in preparation for the ZOOMA Cape Cod Half Marathon/10K? ZOOMA will provide t-shirts and Muscle Milk for participants. Comment if you would be interested–I will also be posting about it on my Facebook page. 🙂 If you haven’t registered yet, you can use the code CCAMB5 for 10% off either distance!
Welcome back chickie!!! You’re doing awesome!!
Way to go!! I was fine to run around 3-4 weeks post partum, too. It felt so good to be somewhat normal again. 🙂 We’ll see how things go this time!
