This weekend, I added to the pile of miles that is slowly growing again. I am feeling better than ever with my energy level on runs, so I am sure that my iron levels must be better. I just had them checked again last week and am still waiting on the results.
I feel my endurance is much better. I did a long run of 10 miles on Saturday and then did 5 on Sunday to finish out for a 29 mile week—the highest I have seen in a while!

Saturday morning’s run was quite frosty. I woke up to 35 degree temperatures and donned tights for the first time this season. Although it was a chilly start, the sun was out and it warmed up quite a bit by the time I was done. What a gorgeous fall day!
I would like to work up to about 35 mile weeks during the winter. I plan to run a few half marathons in the spring and perhaps a marathon! Yes, I said it. I have never run one before, and I finally feel like I am ready to take it on.
I haven’t picked out which marathon I plan to tackle yet, so open for semi-local suggestions. The Key Bank Vermont City Marathon is looking like a strong candidate so far…
Other than that, the weekend was pretty uneventful, save for some culinary excursions to Rick’s Roadhouse for BBQ followed by dessert (think Italian bakeries and Federal Hill!). I also spent some time prepping for this week’s classes. I will be teaching Spanish at the Pumpkin Patch again this year for pre-K and kindergarten. It feels good to get back into my routine!
Great job getting your miles back up, Jessica! And a marathon is exciting, too… I’m hoping to do one this winter, if my shin remains happy!
Hooray for increasing mileage! I’ve heard Vermont is a great race – and it must be absolutely gorgeous!
