My Favorite Running Bag (and what’s in it)

GEAR

Before having kids, I had a vice otherwise known as handbags (or any other type of bag). After having the littles, my budget for expensive bags was greatly diminished and has pretty much withered away.

I still get a thrill from getting a new purse or bag, so it’s a pretty amazing feat that I have been able to keep the same running bag for a year now!
I chose the ASICS running bag because it had good reviews on Amazon, and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s not too big and not too small—the perfect size for a trip to the gym or for a race.

It has an interior pocket that is waterproof and sealed off from the rest of the bag. This pocket is great for smelly shoes or really sweaty workout clothes. The rest of your bag remains nice and dry and stink-free.

It has some other little zip pockets that I use for odds and ends like keys, phone, etc. and a mesh outer pocket that can hold shoes as well (I throw a water bottle in mine).

It only comes in black, which I guess is both a plus and a minus. If you love black, you are good to go, but it’s not your bag if you like more festive colors.

I like to keep my running/gym bag well stocked for any situation. During the winter, it always has my running mittens and a hat. In the summer months, it’s a hat or visor. I keep my running sunglasses in there for both seasons.

I also keep my SPIbelt in there, if I am running somewhere that I will need to carry keys, phone, etc. and don’t have a place to stash them. Other items in the bag include toiletries (mini shampoo, conditioner, deodorant), brush, extra hair elastics and headband, and my good old fashioned combination lock. I always have extra snacks in my gym bag too, in addition to electrolyte tabs.

What’s your favorite running/gym bag and what do you keep in it?

I also have a purse, bag, wallet obsession – and I have NOT (gasp?! shock?! cringe!?) found the perfect running bag yet. They are either too big or too small or not enough pockets. THIS bag I have not seen and I am going to check it out now. THANKS for sharing!!!

I know Sara, I still have to tame the urge to go out and buy more! 😉 Hope you find a running bag that works for you.

I just got a free with purchase Victoria’s Secret tote – it’s HUGE, I love it!

My go to standard items in it are: toiletries, combo lock, Nuun, treadmill pace cheat sheet, hair elastics/bobby pins. The rest depends on the day, where I’m going/what I’m doing.

Looks like a great one–especially like that sealed off pocket for the sweaty stuff! I have a newish one from Title 9 that I like but don’t love–it’s short a few pockets, IMHO.

Yes– I sweat so much when I work out, so those clothes definitely have to have their own separate place in my bag 😉

I don’t even have a running bag. I don’t really have a purse either though LOL. Guess it’s a good thing I have boys ’cause I’d never know what to do with a girly girl.

Ha! I probably wouldn’t know what to do either. I am outnumbered with my husband and the two boys! 😉
