I am SO glad that I squeezed in a 7-miler yesterday, because I sure as heck am not getting it in today! Since my husband was working from home yesterday, I was able to run outside. I did an easy 7 miles after yesterday’s progression run.

Although it was a bit chilly, it was sunny and I was thankful for the sun, since I don’t think we are going to see it again for a bit. Because the Cape is surrounded by the ocean (which stays warmer a bit longer through the fall/winter), we generally don’t get as many snow days as other areas of Massachusetts.
We used to joke when I was growing up here that “it never snows on Cape Cod.” It does—just not as often. This most recent little storm was more of a coastal event. As a result, we are going to pick up more snow than some of the surrounding areas.
I feel like a kid in elementary school—I am THAT excited about tomorrow being a snow day. Since I am home with the boys, I do not have to commute anywhere tomorrow and will therefore be building snowmen and snow forts in the backyard. Snow construction will be followed by immediate hot chocolate consumption!
Apparently it’s going to turn bitter cold (as in single digits Wednesday morning), so I may head indoors to run mid-week. I have run in single digits (with below zero wind chill), but honestly it’s not my favorite thing to do. Shocking, I know. The last time I ran in such cold weather, my handheld froze while I was running!
What’s your temperature threshold for heading inside to run? I know some of my Canadian readers will be chiming in with some seriously cold temps, but I am curious to see what everyone says!
I’m actually debating what my threshold will be. I have a 7 miler scheduled for this Thursday, and the temps may be in the single digits. Right now, it’s a ‘go’ as planned. We’ll see if I change my mind Wed night. 😉
You should probably be okay for 7, I think that’s what I did that super cold day when my handheld froze! Make sure you wear a balaclava–it will help A LOT! 🙂 Good luck!
I don’t know about single digits, but I can do teens and up if I have a running partner (and a little sunshine never hurts).
It really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It’s the wind that gets you! I definitely agree on the sunshine–it make SUCH a difference! 🙂
Love your enthusiasm! I’m due for a short run today… maybe 3 miles. I’m sitting at my home office desk that faces a busy street, watching runners of all ages, shapes and sizes run by. I love it. By the way, my phone froze, too, a few weeks ago during a cold spell. I felt kind of helpless without it!
