On Monday I did my first key workout of the week: a ladder speed workout. I discovered that I actually really liked this speed workout! It consisted of a 400m, 600m, 800m, 1200m, 800m, 600m, and 400m with a rest interval 0f 400m in between. I did a 1 mile warm up and 1/2 mile cool down to make it an even 6 miles for the night! I think the change in distance and pacing of the repeats helped to make it go by faster–because we all know how speed work can seem to last forever sometimes, ironic huh?!
Tonight’s workout will be a tempo run of 5 miles, with a 1 mile warm up and 1 mile cool down and then my last key workout is a long run of 9 miles. Is it weird that long runs are my least favorite workout? In other news, we hit our neighbor’s pool last night for some relief from the heat. William had his first “swim,” and he loved it! He loves taking a bath, I labored a lot in the tub, and he was born over water–I’m convinced that has something to do with his love of all things water. He splashed around and kept moving his legs. It was adorable!
We are trying to plan out the last few weeks of summer here in the Morrison household. Clarke is taking the last week of August off, so we are trying to cram as much fun in there as possible! Our plans include a day trip to Boston, a trip to Providence, and a trip to Martha’s Vineyard. I haven’t been to the Vineyard in years, and I’m excited to get back. President Obama will be gone by then, so it should be a lot less crowded! 😉 Hopefully we are able to squeeze in all of our adventures before the craziness of school and fall begins!
