I got my National Running Day off to a celebratory start with a 4-mile run. My legs are shredded after yesterday’s TRX workout—think LOTS of squats and one-legged squats and you get the picture! My coach rearranged my training schedule to make this morning’s run an easy 4 instead of the speed work that would not have happened in a million years was supposed to happen yesterday. This afternoon I will be headed to a lunch for ZOOMA Cape Cod. I can’t wait to hear more details about the race!
In honor of National Running Day, I have put together a list of a few ways you show running how much you love it today!
- Go for a run, rain or shine. Lace up the sneakers and hit the road, trails, or even the ‘mill.
- Encourage someone you know to start running – Couch to 5K is a great starting plan.
- Start reading a running book like Born to Run, Chi Running, or Pre: The Story of America’s Greatest Running Legend, Steve Prefontaine.
- Sign up for a race.
- Buy some new running gear as a present to yourself for National Running Day!
What are you doing to celebrate National Running Day?
Ooh, I like that last idea. 🙂 Today was not supposed to be a running day, but I’m attempting the streak and added one easy mile after spin. So far, so good! TRX sounds intense- but also reminded me that I’ve been slacking in weights for my legs!
I still need to try spinning! Here’s the deal: you do TRX and I’ll do spinning and we’ll both be in kick a$$ shape! 😉
Good to hear you have a sensible coach!!! I am hoping to get DS (will be 7 in November) running this summer. Maybe today should be run #1. I’ve only read one running book “The Perfect Mile” and enjoyed it. I should borrow another one from the library at some point.
I love that about him! 😉 Love that you are going to get your son running–I know one day my two are going to smoke me! Also wanted to say thanks SO much for your donation. You made my day! 🙂
I believe I will set a goal of 20 miles for the summer for him. He will be an average athlete but is competitive in soccer and understood how to play quickly. My daughter (almost 4 yo tiny girl, under the 1% in height and weight) seems so much more athletic with advanced motor skills and runs with us when DS rides his bike. But she is very stubborn and shy so…
And you are welcome for the donation, it is an awesome cause.
I’ll be doing my post-race recovery run on th treadmill tonight–skipped crossfit for my love of the run!! I’ll also probably buy myself a new Tough Chik t-shirt tonight that I have been eyeing thanks to your suggestion of buying new gear!! 🙂
It was GREAT to meet you Jessica! I love all your celebration ideas!!
I was so glad to finally meet you too! Can’t wait for all the ZOOMA fun to come! 🙂
Ran this morning before the rain started, and had afterschool running club this afternoon – : ) So excited for Zooma!!!!
Awesome and yes, I am even more excited for ZOOMA after today’s lunch! 🙂
I think they just started offering TRX at my Y. I will have to check out that class!
