I am trying to limit updates on my injury to once a week or every other week, so as not to bore you with the details– this was the first 8 days week of no running, not that anyone is counting! So far it seems to be working; in fact, I haven’t done much of anything in the way of aerobic exercise. I do think that chasing after my two sons counts for some cardio though. 🙂
I think the time off running is going to be the best decision I have made in a long time. Yesterday I had an ART appointment, and I am happy to report that the right psoas has loosened up quite a bit. Week of rest: 1 psoas: 0. Rest for the win!
Since I have not been logging any miles, I have been keeping myself busy doing things around the house and with the boys. It’s AMAZING how much time has opened up in the schedule. We have hit the zoo, the children’s museum, food shopping, the active center at the Y, and the list goes on…
The nice thing about the extra time is being able to cook more. I was sorely neglecting kitchen duty, and now with more time on my hands, I have put together some pretty tasty and healthy meals. I am not going to quit my day job yet, but I am pretty proud of myself!
Only 22 days left in my month of self-imposed rest!
xoxoxo
and YES
the son chasing counts for a LOT of cardio.
I think so too! 🙂 Happy Friday!
chasing kid(s) and keeping up with them is a workout 🙂
here’s to your recovery
Thanks Tara! 🙂
Glad the injury is feeling so much better. You’re really smart to take this time off. And yes, isn’t it amazing how much free time you have when you’re not running??!!
It is Michelle! I feel like Wonder Woman on the homefront! 😉
So glad it’s helping! I might have to do that… this ankle is being stubborn. I was spinning this week, but maybe that’s still irritating it.
Thanks Laura! Sometimes rest is best! 😉 Like that cheesy saying I just came up with?
I do! 🙂
Rest is hard to do but great for the body. Sounds like you are making the best of your new found time!
22 days or bust! It’ll fly by with the attitude you have about this injury, I can just tell. Rock on!
Thanks Jess! Can’t wait!! 🙂
I feel you! On all the aspects. I just finished my one month injury recovery and am taking it easy with a slow re-start. Lots of time for stuff around the house. But I’m so ready to hit the pavement again for other than to chase the kids. BTW glad to find you thru the blog awards and good luck!
Glad to hear that your one month recovery went well and you are re-starting–can’t wait for the day here! 😉 So happy you found me 🙂
Way to go Jess! Your attitude is great, and I’m sure the little ones are enjoying more mommy time! 🙂
Thanks Samantha– way to go YOU for killing it at RnR New Orleans. What a massive PR–SO EXCITED for you! 🙂
Good to hear that you are seeing some improvement! It is hard to rest, but your body will thank you, as you can see already.
Kim
Thanks Kim! I am forcing myself to continue the rest, even though I am feeling better. 🙂
It is hard but it will go by very quckly. Twisted my ankle in September and was forced to stop running for a month. The wait was tough but worth it!
It is definitely worth it! 🙂 Glad you’re back running! 🙂
