The Importance of a Great Sports Bra!

GEAR

I am a self admitted cheapskate when it comes to sports bras, until recently. I would always buy the brand that was on sale or the Champion ones from Target (I still love them!).

A couple of weeks ago, I got my first Moving Comfort Bra—the Rebound Racer. While it retails for $50, I was able to scoop it up with an REI reward coupon, so I got it for $40. I had always heard that Moving Comfort made great bras, so I was anxious to finally try one!

The girls have been through quite a few changes over the last 4 years: 2 pregnancies and nursing= huge boobs. After my youngest son was weaned, they shrunk right back up, so it was time for a sports bra makeover.

Since it gets so hot here in the summer, I really wanted to get a bra that I would be able to wear without a shirt. I don’t usually run in just a sports bra, but if the temperatures are hot enough, I will. After checking out the Rebound Racer, I felt that the coverage was enough for me to go sans running top.

As a mother, comfort is a priority to me, but I also didn’t want anything too revealing. I think that the Rebound Racer is not only comfy, but super cute too! The bra has adjustable straps, which is great for a really customized fit. I liked the purple color with pink piping so much, so I decided to order another color and went for the bright orange one.

I have worn them both quite a few times now, and I think I’m officially a convert. I am looking forward to trying some of their other styles.

I was bummed that I missed the Moving Comfort Fit Fest when it came to my local running store, as I discovered that about 70% of women wear the wrong size sports bra! Although I missed the measuring session, Moving Comfort has a great video that demonstrates how to determine your sports bra size.

What is your favorite sports bra?

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been looking at this bra online for the past couple weeks and definitely need to try it out. I am definitely NOT well endowed in the chest area so you’d think it would be easy to find a good sports bra, but I honestly only have ONE that I love the fit of! Definitely need to invest in one of these…

Looks like a great bra–love the color. I am a big Champion bra fan, too!

I am a total convert since going to the fitting event at Rhode Runners. I now own three of the Moving Comfort Alexis, and am thinking about getting one more! They’re so, so comfortable – and cute, too, so I’m having fun wearing them in this brutally hot, sports-bra only running weather.

I was just looking at the Alexis! I am so glad you love it, because I was just about to order one. Did you go up a size? I heard that style runs small. They are super cute!

I did go up a size. I’m barely an A, but for this model, I’m wearing a size Medium. The only drawback to it is that it is a little tough to get on and off, but I’m willing to put up with that, since it’s so comfy once I have it on.

This is also one of my favorites! I used to “double bag” the girls for the longest time. I was a late bloomer and had no idea about proper support. Finally a couple years after college I was able to afford a better sports bra and got fitted at my local running store. They are pricey, but when I consider I was wearing/purchasing 2 cheaper sports bras (and at Target – which I still love for yoga or sleepovers at others houses – they are still $12-15 each), I was spending about the same amount on cheap bras that were hurting my chest muscles.

My staples: Rebound Racer, Juno and Fiona. I love Moving Comfort! Also, keep an eye on their website for when some bras go on sale. I was able to scoop up a Fiona on sale in my size for about $30; it was great!
