As the mother of 3 boys who could rival Casper the friendly ghost with their skin tone, I am well versed in slathering on the sun block and keeping them protected from too much sun. Even though I am super vigilant with them, I can sometimes get lax with my own sun safety, and I’m not okay with it.
If you’ve hung around this blog for long enough, you will know that I lost my stepfather to an almost five-year long battle with melanoma. I know all too well the dangers of melanoma, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I don’t spend time sun bathing, but I love to run outside and take the kids to the beach, so I have to be careful with my own skin. This spring, Coolibar approached me about trying out some of their sun safe clothing, and I’m in love with their functional, yet super stylish, clothing to keep you sun safe.
I had the opportunity to try out the ZnO Oceanside Tunic Dress (I chose the Moroccan Coral color which is gorgeous!) beach cover up and and the SmartStraw Monaco Sun Hat (wide-brimmed hats are hot for this season by the way!). I fell in love with the print on my beach cover-up, and it’s so cute that I have actually worn it as a dress too. It comes in several bright colors, and it embodies the boho vibe that is the rage for this summer and fall!
Coolibar is a company based in Minneapolis that has helped bring Australia’s sun protective technologies for clothing here to the U.S. I love that they guarantee the SPF 50+ protection of their clothing for the life of the garment. Coolibar also gives back to sun safety causes in a number of different ways through Coolibar Cares.
They work with SunAWARE to help disseminate educational information on the dangers of skin cancer and how to prevent it. Coolibar also supports a number of non-profit groups like AIM at Melanoma, the American Academy of Dermatology, the Andy Caress Melanoma Foundation, and the Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation.
Check out all of Coolibar’s AWESOME products.
