H2O Audio Waterproof Armband and Headphones Review

GEAR

Although I heart pool running, I do not heart the loneliness of running by yourself in the pool. So you can imagine my excitement when I had the opportunity to review the H2O Audio Amphibx Armband and Surge 2G Waterproof Sport Headphones. Music for pool running= WINNING! The H2O Audio armband allows you to take your trusty iPhone/iPod/smartphone/mp3 player into the pool, rain, extreme sweat, etc.

H2O Waterproof Armband I will admit that I was definitely afraid to test this out with my iPhone for fear that I would end up with a waterlogged and unusable smart phone (pretty much my lifeline!). I decided to test the armband out with a piece of paper inside. I submerged it and ran it under the faucet for a while. After removing a dry piece of paper from the armband, I decided to take the plunge and use my iPhone for the day’s pool run. I was still a bit nervous though. So off I went to the pool for a little aqua jogging.

Surge 2G Waterproof Headphones I decided to do a half hour test. I loved being able to listen to music while running in the pool! It definitely made the half hour go by faster. The armband was pretty comfortable and fit snugly enough on my arm (I have thinner arms so it’s sometimes hard to get them to stay in place). I plugged in the water proof head phones and got started with the workout. I did have a little trouble with the audio portion being consistent with the volume.

It reminded me of when you plug your headphones into the treadmill and  you have to adjust the headphone jack to get the right volume. Most of the time that volume was the same, but then occasionally it would get a bit louder. This leads me to believe that there was a connection problem somewhere. I didn’t want to tinker with the set up in the water for fear of jeopardizing my airtight seal!

Surge 2G Waterproof Headphones I really like that the front face allowed for easy use of the touch screen. I have another armband that drives me nuts because it is hard to use the touch screen through the clear layer. Not an issue at all with this armband. The headphones were comfortable and have a control like the iPhone headphones for pausing and playing the music.

The H2O Audio Amphibx Armband and Surge 2G Waterproof Sport Headphones would make a great gear addition for any runner that pool runs or swims for cross-training. Additionally, if you have ever left your iPhone/iPod at home because it was raining (or tried to stick it in a Ziploc bag!), this is for you.

Now for the exciting part–if there is enough interest in this combo, H2O Audio will allow me to give a lucky reader an armband/headphone set. So check out their site and leave me a comment letting me know what you think. Let’s show them how interested you are!

H2O Audio provided 30 Something Mother Runner with a complimentary H2O Waterproof Amphibx Armband and  Surge 2G Waterproof headphones for this product review. I did not receive any payment for writing this review, and all writing and opinions reflected in this review are my own.

I think this sounds amazing! I was always upset when i went to jog and it was raining or looked like it was about to rain because I’d have to leave my iPhone at home. I absolutely love the look and I’m quite happy that someone decided to finally do this. It’s price is a bit steep, as my other armband was only $8 and worked fantastic…except for the whole waterproofing.

This sounds great, glad to hear that it worked well – it takes a little faith dunking an expensive piece of electronics!

Thanks for reviewing this H20 proof product. I run in every kind of weather and struggle with zip lock bags with my Nike+/Nano. I have ruined equipment in the past and would really, really use this product. Often I buy products that just don’t work. Keep up the great reviews. Thank you!

You’re welcome! It’s a great way to run fearlessly in the rain/snow/sleet or even in the pool! I think it’s definitely worth it to protect my iPhone! 🙂

I actually just this weekend felt compelled to go to the X1 Audio (powered by h20 audio) and write reviews on their website for the two armbands. Over the last 3 years my iphone has been my primary GPS, as I use that for longer runs and generally just a stopwatch for shorter EZ workouts that don’t go to far from home.

Over the past 3 years I’ve used both the case you have written about above and their lower-profile and lighter but not 100% waterproof case.

I can’t say enough how well built these cases are and how great they are for running. Three years of snow, rain, dust, and sweat. No problem with these cases!
