This article is part of a hosted stay in Vermont.
The Grünberg Haus Bed and Breakfast is an Austrian-style chalet located in Waterbury, Vermont, and it was a perfect place for our recent family getaway to Vermont. The current owners, Leah and Duane, made us (the kids included!) feel at home as soon as we arrived. This kid-friendly and pet-friendly B&B is perched on a hill that offers beautiful views of the surrounding Green Mountain forest. I could have stayed at the dining table and looked out the window for hours! 🙂
Accommodations
There are 11 rooms in this self-described “eclectic” B&B. I love its funky vibe– it’s warm and inviting. Our family occupied the third floor, and it was nice to have all that space to relax and unwind! The inn is open year-round, but there are also three cabins that are open between Memorial Day and the end of October.
The beds were super comfy, and the morning breakfast was delicious! In addition to the fruit and yogurt parfaits, cereal, pastries and fruit, we enjoyed peanut butter and banana stuffed French toast. The boys were in heaven!
When you’re not sleeping, you can relax in the spacious downstairs lounging area that includes a beautiful fireplace, dining area, tavern/billiards room and another small tv room with a large screen TV. Our stay coincided with Super Bowl Sunday, and Leah had graciously set out game day snacks and we got to watch the Pats win on the huge TV! 🙂
Ski and Stay Packages
If you are into skiing or riding, definitely check out the Grünberg Haus ski and stay packages (they are a great way to save money on a family ski trip!). You can pick up some great deals on lift tickets to Stowe and Sugarbush (our fave!). Additionally the lift tickets are valid on holidays and weekends, so no blackout dates! Grünberg Haus is ideally situated, about half way between both resorts, so going to both during your stay is totally doable.
Surrounding Area Activities
There is no shortage of outdoor (and indoor!) activities in the Waterbury area. You can ski, ride and snow mobile during the winter months and hike, kayak, fish, golf, play tennis and so many other activities in the warmer months. Don’t forget to check out the Ben & Jerry’s factory tour in Waterbury and nearby Cold Hollow Cider. If you love cheese, you should also check out the Cabot Cheese factory.
