30 Something Mother Runner received complimentary tickets to Gardens Aglow for the purpose of this review (we go there all the time on our own because we love Heritage Museum & Gardens!).
Last weekend we visited Gardens Aglow at Heritage in Sandwich, MA to get into the holiday spirit. We love visiting Heritage in the spring, summer and fall and especially during the holiday season for Gardens Aglow.
About Gardens Aglow
This special holiday display is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from November 25 – December 18, 2016 from 4:30 – 8:30 pm. Tickets are $18 for adults, $7 for youth (3-11) and children 2 and under are FREE. If you are member, you can save $3 on adult tickets and $2 on youth tickets. You can purchase tickets HERE.
Our first stop after arrival was a visit with Santa in the car barn, but not before grabbing our punch card for the reindeer Scavenger Hunt (you will find all of Santa’s reindeer at various locations throughout the property). You can have your picture taken with Santa, and let me tell you– he’s an AWESOME Santa. We went on a Saturday night, and had to wait about 10-15 minutes in line, but it was so worth it! Santa spent at least 5 minutes talking to the boys, and they loved it!
There are various entertainers that perform in the car barn on Gardens Aglow evenings, including my son’s fiddling group– the Sonnay Fiddlers!
Special Exhibits to Enjoy
If you visit Gardens Aglow between December 2-4, you can enjoy a petting zoo with baby goats, piglets, chickens and chicks, bunnies, and other barnyard babies! We loved visiting the “Heritage Holiday Express” featuring two model trains on elaborate tracks, while perusing holiday tablescapes from Irina MacPhee from Pastiche Cape Cod, Olive Chase of The Casual Gourmet, Richard McLaughlin of Fresh Interiors, and Nina Mayfield of Nina Mayfield Design. There is a craft room adjoining the main area, where kids can make homemade crafts (mine made an ornament for the tree!).
If you visit on a Saturday, you can also check out ice sculptures and have your picture taken in them like our boys did (see below)! We always love riding the carousel, and our visit to Gardens Aglow was no exception. This time we could enjoy holiday music while riding on the beautifully carved wooden horses.

Bring a Donation to the Sandwich Food Pantry
This year, Gardens Aglow is partnering with the Sandwich Food Pantry to collect school supplies for needy children. Bring new glue sticks, pencil boxes or pouches, spiral notebooks, highlighter markers, thumb drives, three-ring binders, and #2 pencils and deposit them in the donation boxes in the gift shop.
Don’t miss this SUPER FUN holiday excursion– the whole family will enjoy it!
