INJURY

One of the hardest (but best) things about returning to running after injury is the necessity of going super slow. It feels so good to be moving again that you just want to open it up and let your legs fly.

Although it seems like so much fun, the little voice in the back of your head warns you about reinjuring yourself. Since I consider myself to be a little older and a little wiser now, I listen to that voice and just shuffle along.

The nice thing about going really slow is you get to focus on enjoying the sensation of running. You can take in all of the sights, smells, and sensations of a run. In other words, you just put one foot in front of the other and move.

No constantly checking the Garmin and wondering if I am on pace for an interval or wondering β€œAm I going too fast or too slow?” I am just enjoying the experience of running again.

I did celebrate my ability to run again by buying myself a nice new Lululemon cool racerback tank! I have been dying to try these out! They are super comfy and don’t ride up on the run! Here is the one I ordered!

Glad you’re enjoying your runs. It is kind of freeing to just go out and run, without worrying about pace or distance. Hope things continue to go well!

It is SO liberating! I am just going to bide my time until I can start adding some speed in. It’s nice not really being in a hurry to do so. πŸ™‚

Nice to enjoy just the basic feeling of your sport, the freedom of it. All the other stuff is just gravy, really.
