1) What is your favorite race?
My favorite race was the Carmel Marathon. It was my favorite because it was my first marathon!
2) Where was the race located, distance, and any other details you want to share.
26.2 miles in Carmel, Indiana. It was a pretty, flat course. Great for first timers.
3) What made the race special for you?
It was so special because it was my first marathon. I remember being overweight and hardly being able to run a 5k, and now I was running a marathon. Accomplishing something I thought was impossible was the best feeling in the world! I trained hard and knew I was ready as I stood at the start line. I was more excited than nervous! I had a great race. After mile 18 it did start to get more difficult, but I never once thought about quitting. Crossing that finish line was unforgettable!
4) Best piece of running advice you can share with other mother runners:
Don’t give up! When I first started running, I could hardly run a mile. But I gradually would run a little further and a little further each time. I also hated running when I first started. I couldn’t believe people did this for fun! But the more I did it, the more I started to love it. I loved the feeling it gave me and I loved the weight loss. Now I can’t imagine not having running in my life!
