I am SUPER excited to share that I am now a FASTer Way to Fat Loss® Certified Coach! You may have seen me post about this program over the years, and I am so pumped to finally be able to share it with you all! Being a teacher and being passionate about nutrition and fitness, this opportunity felt like such a natural fit. So why the FASTer Way?
In my forties, it’s become clear that how I used to eat and exercise no longer works– as I’m sure many of you can relate! Things change in your body, hormones shift, and your body just doesn’t respond how it used to. To add to that, schedules are crazy and there is just not enough time to devote to working out and training as there used to be. It’s take a lot of trial and error to find a lifestyle program that works for me and that’s the FASTer Way.

Overtraining
So many women I talk to think that they have to spend hours in the gym or running on the roads to stay in shape, but often, this is actually hurting their progress. The body needs time to rest and repair; too much time spent working out can stress your body out and make it harder to lose fat and stay healthy! Following the FASTer Way program means I’m never spending more than 30 minutes in the gym and taking 2 rest days. Incorporating two days of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and 3 days of strength training, using the FASTer Way workouts, has resulted in my being the strongest I’ve ever been in the gym!
Under-eating
Following the nutritional guidance for the FASTer Way, I eat A LOT of food and am never left hungry. As someone who has, at many times in life, tried different programs that count calories or”points,” it is SO refreshing not to focus on the magic number of calories. Instead, I focus on fueling my body with enough protein, carbohydrates, and fat and practicing intermittent fasting.
Nutrition on the FASTer way includes carb cycling (2 low-carb days per week), so it’s not a low-carb way of eating either! Carb cycling paired with the proper workouts helps middle-aged women burn more fat by encouraging the body to burn fat during HIIT on lower-carb days. Initially, I didn’t think I would make it on a low-carb day, but I’ve found I actually enjoy those days of the week (even though I have to work hard to get enough fat on those days)!
More Energy
The biggest impact for me personally has been an increase in energy throughout the day. I no longer feel like I need a coffee or Diet Coke in the afternoon to power through. I wake up before my alarm goes off and can hit the ground running. This comes in handy when I’m chasing kids around at school or shuttling my own kids to all of their activities, while also making dinner and completing other household chores!
If you are a mom in your 30s or 40s and feeling tired and sluggish, making some simple changes to how you eat and work out can make a world of difference. Imagine having the energy to play all day or get home from work and still have gas in the tank.
