A few weeks ago I got to steal away from mom life for a relaxing morning at the Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills. It was much-needed and my visit far exceeded my expectations! There are two Mirbeau locations, one in Skaneateles, New York and one right in our back yard in Plymouth at Pinehills.
As soon as I drove up the driveway to Mirbeau, I knew I was in for something special. The building resembles a French country estate, complete with its own gardens. I was scheduled for the Monet’s Palette package, so I headed downstairs to check into the spa upon arrival.
I was warmly greeted at the check in desk and then escorted to the locker room/changing areas. You are given flip flops and a nice comfy robe to change into and wear for the duration of the spa visit. The resort is robe friendly, so if you choose to stay in your robe for your lunch at the spa, you are more than welcome to!
Since I had a 10 o’clock manicure, I quickly changed and headed into the gorgeous waiting area. I had seen a picture of the Rest and Relaxation Center before I arrived at the spa, but it was even more impressive in person. It’s so relaxing and has a beautiful heated foot massage pool in the center. There are lounge chairs for resting while awaiting appointments, reading materials, coffee and tea, and even a nice warm fireplace.
My first stop was the nail salon for a classic manicure. I NEVER do my nails any more, since there really isn’t much time to polish them and let them dry in our house with 3 active boys! 🙂 It was nice to get a pampering scrub and massage on my hands too. After getting a nice spring purple polish, I headed back to the Resting Area before my massage.
Each massage room at Mirbeau Inn & Spa Plymouth has a fireplace, making it warm, cozy, and inviting. My massage therapist quickly asked about my pressure preferences and got me situated on the heated massage table (heated massage tables are AWESOME!). As with the manicure, you are given your choice of essential oil combination, relaxing or energizing. I love the mixtures– the energizing one smelled divine…
After the massage, I headed out to the aqua terrace to soak in the outdoor jacuzzi. The temperature hit 60 degrees that day, and it was so nice to be able to put on a bathing suit and enjoy the sun outdoors! After relaxing in the jacuzzi, I went back to the changing area and hung out in the eucalyptus steam room for a few minutes before showering and changing for my lunch at the Bistro & Wine Bar.
Speaking of food, it was unreal! If you purchase a day spa package like Monet’s palette, you will receive a 3-course lunch at the Bistro & Wine Bar. You can choose a soup, salad, and sandwich (or a dessert, whatever you wish!). My meal was absolutely fabulous (thanks to Executive Chef Stephen Coe!), and I would go back to Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills just to eat at the Bistro & Wine Bar! I started with an heirloom tomato soup, followed by a Shrimp Po’boy (highly recommended – the truffle fries are unbelievable!) followed by a decadent dessert with hazelnut spongecake, blood orange ice cream, and chocolate sauce.
If you are looking for a relaxing getaway from city life in Boston, Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills is the perfect destination. The rooms are beautifully appointed and all have fireplaces. You can enjoy views of the golf course or the French gardens. If you’re on the Cape and looking for a nice, relaxing day at the spa, I wouldn’t hesitate to book a day at Mirbeau. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed! 🙂
