Last Thursday I had the chance to head up to Boston to cook some comfort foods with Chef Peter Davis at Henrietta’s Table and to learn more about Braun thermometers. We decided to make it a family day and take the boys to the Boston Children’s Museum while I went to the event. I hadn’t been to the museum since I was little! The boys had a great time, and so did I!
I was so excited to check out Henrietta’s Table, since I had heard so many great things about it! Shortly after we arrived, we headed back into the kitchen to meet Chef Peter Davis for a cooking demonstration. We were met with a bounty of locally source produce laid out on the counters—beautiful colors! Chef Peter taught us how to roast seasonal squashes and make his DELICIOUS roasted pumpkin soup (we got to taste it at lunch!). He shared quite a few tips and tricks for making meals for your family healthier by adding local produce. I was inspired to roast more squash while it’s in season and freeze it!
After our cooking demonstration, we headed into the private dining room for a delectable lunch of roasted pumpkin soup, wild salmon in an apple cider reduction with roasted root vegetables, and a dessert of roasted pears and pumpkin sorbet. Everything was absolutely delicious, and I can’t wait to go back for another meal. I heard there brunch is fantastic!
While we were dining, we also learned about Braun’s thermometers. In preparation for this year’s cold and flu season, they have launched a brand new No Touch Traditional Forehead Thermometer (MSRP $69.99). How cool is it that it uses infrared technology, so there is no need to even touch your child. For those of us with squirmy kids (who wants to sit still with a thermometer in your mouth?), this is the perfect solution. It beeps when the reading is ready, but you can even disable this feature if you don’t want to wake a sleeping child. We got to test it out, and I can truly say it was SUPER easy to use. Just press and read (it directs you if you need to move closer to the forehead). You can purchase the thermometer at any Walgreens, Rite Aid, Babies R Us and on Amazon.
After our yummy lunch, I headed back for some more fun at the Children’s museum before heading back to the Cape. The boys had so much fun on their outing to Beantown. I am reminded yet again of why I love Boston so much! 🙂
30 Something Mother Runner attended a complimentary lunch and cooking demonstration and received a gift bag from Braun via 360PR. All opinions and writing are 100% my own.
