Boredom Busters and the Summer Olympics

PARENTING

There are always some days of the summer that are just too hot or too stormy to get the kids outside. What to do to bust summer boredom? Over the past few weeks, I compiled a list of fun projects to do with the kids that coincide with the summer Olympics. I am so excited that the Olympics have finally started, and I really want my boys to be able to enjoy the fun!

If you are looking for something to do with your kids to get into the Olympic spirit, check out the list below:

  • Make an Olympic ring paper chain.
  • Create your own Olympic torch.
  • Craft your own gold medals!
  • Construct a paper plate olive wreath.
  • Stage your own mini Olympics inside or outside! You can include games like a bean bag toss, throwing games, sprints, etc.
  • Have a summer Olympics party!

When we find ourselves stuck inside due to the weather, my kids love to play with their Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars. A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to receive the Matchbox Cliff Hanger Shark Escape Playset and the Hot Wheels Double Dare Snare Trackset.

Both of the boys love playing with their cars, and these two playsets added a whole other dimension to their car play! They have played for hours with these two toys, and I love how the Cliff Hanger Shark Escape can be placed on the ground or clamped to a table or other ledge (helps keep the toys off the floor! Winking smile).

I find that mothers today are struggling hard to help their husbands by working outside of their homes with small kids.

This is really a great way to make them realize the importance of the Olympics. I am sure these small activities help them grow their knowledge. I would love to try these at home. Even the Olympics are being help in UK but I am sure it will help them overall!

It is hard to find things for the kids to do inside on rainy days during the summer or days when it’s just too hot. Both my niece and nephew are outdoorsy kids, but I think they’d like participating in their own Olympic Games. I think the Hot Wheels Double Dare Snare Track Set would actually keep them both entertained for a while. Thanks for the ideas and reviews.
