I had an AWESOME trip out to San Diego to visit my sister! Although I was happy to be heading back to see my husband and boys, it was hard to say goodbye to my sister…
I hadn´t been out to San Diego to visit in about five years (she usually comes back to the East Coast about twice a year). I am really going to try and make it out at least once a year from now on.
Not only do I love San Diego (I used to live there), but I really want to be able to share more of my sister’s life out there. It’s hard when you live far away, and it’s sort of expected that you are always the one to come back home.
This trip was the longest I have been away from the boys on my own. I have also reflected on how important it is to have time away, especially when you are a stay-at-home parent.
It was so nice to be able to get a great night’s sleep and wake up in the morning with no other responsibilities other than having fun! My sister and I did a lot of walking/running along the Cliffs and on Monday we hiked down to Black’s Beach.
Another fun experience was getting my hair cut and colored at one of my brother-in-laws barber shops: Floyd’s San Diego. I was really excited to finally see the shop I have heard so much about!
It has a great hip vibe with a super friendly receptionist and stylists. I love my “new” hair! If you are ever in the San Diego area, stop by his shop downtown or in Hillcrest!
We ate out and went shopping—something I rarely get to do on my own! What a treat! I definitely think I could have stayed on for a few more days—both to see my sister and enjoy some warmer weather!
