ASICS GEL Pursue™ Review

GEAR

ASICS GEL Pursue™

A few weeks ago I was contacted to review a pair of the new ASICS GEL Pursue™ running shoes. The GEL Pursue™ recently won the Runner’s World Best Debut Shoe for Fall 2014. I will admit that I was apprehensive about going back to a more traditional running shoe, but I have to say I was impressed! The GEL Pursue™ is a neutral shoe that was designed for the runner looking for a more responsive shoe. I would agree that it is definitely more responsive than some more traditional shoe models. The GEL Pursue™ is very comfy and has substantial cushioning (the GEL part of the equation!), but I can still feel the road–a great combo.

Another feature I love about these shoes is the breathability. My feet get nice and sweaty when I run, and I feel like they could “breathe” well in the GEL Pursue™. The shoes are about 8.7 oz (not too heavy) and have a heel to toe drop of 10mm. I was expecting to feel more of a difference, since I often run in shoes that are zero drop or about 4-5mm drop.

Another feature that I noticed was the Heel Clutching System™. The shoes fit well in the heel area– zero irritation and very comfy. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised trying a more traditional shoe this time around. I enjoyed the cushioned feeling, without feeling like my shoes were too bulky or I was insulated from the road/trail. I will also admit that I majorly HEART the color combo of purple and green (purple is my favorite color). The GEL Pursue™ is a great shoe that did well from shorter runs all the way up to 11 miles. The shoes retail for $110.

30 Something Mother Runner received a pair of ASICS GEL-Pursue shoes for the purpose of this review. All opinions and writing are 100% my own.
