Sadly we had to come back to reality on Sunday afternoon. Jekyll Island was a magical little place, and I was so sad to say goodbye to it. We were there for a good friend’s wedding, and we could not have had more fun!
We flew into Jacksonville Friday morning and made the approximately one hour drive to Jekyll Island in our rental car. I laughed out loud when I saw our compact rental: a Fiat! All I could think of was Luigi (those of you with little kids who like Cars no exactly what I am talking about!).
After an AMAZING Thai lunch in Jacksonville, we trekked up to Jekyll Island and hit the pool before dinner. What a beautiful resort! We met up with our friends and enjoyed a nice glass of wine by the pool before dinner at Latitude 31.
The meal was great—I had seafood crepes and the view was excellent as well. They had live music outside on the dock until closing.
Before the wedding on Saturday, my friend Jamie and I rented bikes and gave ourselves a little cycling tour of the island. Unfortunately I lost my voice for Friday night and most of Saturday and Sunday!
The wedding on Saturday was outside on the water and beautiful, followed by an equally awesome dinner! I wore a dress from my latest Stitch Fix to the wedding (see picture to the left). We were so sad to head home. As always, I was excited to see the boys, but I definitely could have used another week of relaxation and Lynchburg lemonades by the pool!
It felt good to have a nice run yesterday, even though I had to run on the treadmill to avoid the monsoon that was going on outside! I threw in a couple of 400m repeats at the end and I was psyched to feel speedy again!
