A Disney Planes Birthday

FOOD/DRINK, PARENTING

We hosted my oldest son’s 7th birthday this past weekend, and he chose to have a Disney Planes birthday party. Thank goodness for a little advance planning, because three birthday parties in the span of 5 weeks can get a little crazy!

Disney Planes Birthday Party

Since we had the party after lunch and before dinner, we served snacks and cupcakes. I like to let the kids indulge, while also providing a healthy snack option. For this party, we had a layered Mexican dip with mango salsa, pita chips and artichoke dip, Dusty’s Dippers, and Pumper’s Popcorn.

My mother provided the delicious layered dip, and it was unbelievably yummy! For Dusty’s Dippers, I cut up carrot and celery sticks and put a dollop of ranch dip in the bottom of a plastic cup. Place the veggie sticks in the cup and you have a healthy appetizer that’s easy for the kids to carry around without making a mess! The grown ups enjoyed having a healthier option too. 🙂

For Pumper’s Popcorn (Pumper is the fire truck from Planes: Fire and Rescue), I bought teal colored snack bags from Michael’s and used orange and white washi tape to dress them up a bit. I filled them with popcorn and stapled them shut for another easy snacking option. The kids could take them out to the back yard easily- WIN! I just used the Cape Cod Sea Salt popcorn to keep it easy.

For all of the tent cards with the snack names on them, I just used a rectangle shape from the Cricut library on my Cricut Explore. For the print, I used the Waltograph font.

When it came to the dessert, James chose chocolate cupcakes with my go to buttercream frosting (simple vanilla flavor on this one!). I created Cloud Cupcakes by tinting the icing a sky blue and using mini marshmallows for clouds. I purchased these Planes cupcake rings from Amazon and set them above the clouds. They were super easy and a HUGE hit!

My husband created some obstacles for a mini Wings Around the Globe rally in our backyard, to keep the boys’ running! He did a great job! 🙂 All in all, the Disney Planes birthday party was a success (at least James said so! ;-)).
