Getting out the door on a weekday morning is no small feat! It seems like there’s a never-ending rush to get lunch made, find clean clothes and get organized to get out the door on time! I’ve found a few things that have helped make my mornings less stressful, and maybe they can help you too!
Don’t Pack Your Lunch in the Morning, Do It the Night Before!
Packing a healthy lunch is a great way to save money AND make sure that you are fueling your body with healthy food to keep your energy up for the rest of the day. Since mornings are often rushed, pack your lunch the night before.
There are a ton of quick and healthy lunch recipes that you can prepare in the evening or even at the start of the week (check out Pinterest for some great inspiration!). Mason jar salads are easy, healthy and portable! You can also pack up leftovers from dinner to take the next day. Get yourself a cute insulated lunch bag, and making and packing lunch will be a breeze!
Don’t forget to pack healthy snacks too! Fresh fruit, yogurt or another healthy snack option like ZonePerfect® Bars (at least 1o grams of protein and full of fiber!) can help power you through your day. ZonePerfect® bars are great for satisfying a sweet craving when energy starts to slump in the afternoon!
Lay Out Clothing at Night
Trying to throw together an outfit while you’re rushing around in the morning can add more stress. Lay out clothing the night before, including shoes and accessories! You’d be amazed at how much less stress there is when you can just wake up, get dressed, get ready and head down to breakfast without running around trying to find lost items or clothing that’s in the laundry room!
Set Reminders in Your Phone
I use reminders on my phone to help me remember to do things in the morning. For example, if I know I need to pay a bill or schedule an appointment first thing in the morning, I will set up a reminder on my phone. It’s saved me from forgetting important to-do list items so many times!
Take 5 Minutes to Organize Your Day
I like to take at least 5 minutes, while I’m enjoying my morning coffee, to map out my day and fill in important things I need to get done. Rather than worrying about finding the time to do everything (including going for a run!), I figure out where to plug in activities during my day.
By scheduling my day out, it helps me avoid the stress of wondering how I’m going to get it all done! I know if it’s in my planner for a set time, it’s more likely to get done that day, and I won’t have to worry about it later!
Make Breakfast Ahead
Having a healthy breakfast will get your morning off to a great start! One of my favorite breakfasts is overnight oats. They’re so easy to make the night before! Oatmeal is full of fiber– helping you stay satisfied until lunch. I’m excited to share my Chocolate Peanut Butter and Banana overnight oats recipes, featuring the ZonePerfect® bar (chocolate peanut butter flavor)!
I like to use wide mouth mason jars, because they are more like bowls. Fill your mason jar with 3/4 oats and 3/4 cup milk. Refrigerate overnight and in the morning, just remove the top and top with one chopped chocolate peanut butter ZonePerfect® bar (for 19 vitamins and minerals and 14g of protein!), 1/2 sliced banana and a drizzle of honey. Heat in the microwave, and you’re good to go!

I grab by ZonePerfect® bars at Walmart, where you can buy 2 boxes of ZonePerfect® and save up to $4! There are so many great flavors to choose from including Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Fudge Graham and Cinnamon Roll.
What is your best piece of advice for getting out of the house in the morning with less stress? Do you have a favorite healthy snack option?
You are so right about getting as much as you can done the night before. You can never plan for how smooth a morning goes and it always helps to be prepared a bit! Love your idea of topping your oatmeal with the ZonePerfect bar. My favorite are Fudge Graham! #client
Ooh, fudge graham is SO tasty! I just had a chocolate chip cookie dough one for my morning snack! 🙂
